The single-flower Kiki bouquet evokes an almost dreamlike, suspended atmosphere. The dried inflorescence of cotinus coggygria, better known as the smoke tree, brings to mind the elegant drawings of nebulae seen through the telescope and while it may lead to the image of the starry sky, it remains, at the same time, firmly attached to the earth. Looking at it, one thinks of a concurrence of opposites, human vulnerability and fragility crystallised in a subtle and elegant form that seems to last an eternal instant. Inspired by the works of Kiki Smith, especially the Cathedral (Lupo) tapestry, 2012.
